Turn Around’s success is due to our team of dedicated and committed volunteers.
Turn Around volunteers work with students one-to-one, providing support with reading, writing, maths and English language. Training is provided and volunteers usually volunteer for a couple of hours each week. We need volunteers for our learning centre in St Mary Cray and at various outreach sessions in Anerley, Downham, Mottingham and Central Bromley.
Turn Around is also looking to build a team of volunteer tutors to provide one-to-one and small group support in schools from the Autumn term.
Turn Around volunteers are recruited from many walks life, including retirees, parents with school age children and young people who may be considering a career in teaching or wanting to gain some work experience. Training is provided and all volunteers are given a handbook and invited to regular in-house training days. Turn Around volunteers are kind, patient, non-judgmental and they care about their students progress.
All volunteers require two references and we will arrange an enhanced DBS check.
NO FORMAL EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING IS REQUIRED BUT ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE COMPETENT LITERACY AND BASIC MATHS SKILLS. TRAVEL EXPENSES CAN BE REIMBURSED.
